Heated pool in Les Arcs and La Plagne: swim without the shivers

Together, Les Arcs and La Plagne form the Paradiski area, above Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the Tarentaise valley. These high-altitude resorts, designed for skiing right from the foot of the buildings, have lots of residences and holiday clubs. Their heated indoor pools are a plus for families, especially at the end of the day. I've selected 5 places, all rated at least 8/10; the top-rated is Club Med Les Arcs Panorama (4.7/5).

The pool. Heated indoor pool with large picture windows, outdoor pool, hot tub and hammam; Cinq Mondes spa at extra charge.

The hot tub. Hot tub.

The reviews shown talk about ski-in/ski-out access, the staff and the kids' clubs, not the pool. I haven't yet found guest reviews that mention the water temperature.

Guide's tip. Ask whether the outdoor pool is heated during your stay.

The pool. Aquatic leisure area with indoor pool, outdoor pool and children's pool, jacuzzi, sauna and hammam.

The hot tub. Small jacuzzi.

Guests enjoy the pool in the late afternoon, but several find it small for the size of the residence and the jacuzzi often full. One guest says it takes a few seconds to get used to the water.

Guide's tip. Go early or late: the wellness area gets crowded quickly when people come back from the slopes.

The hot tub. Jacuzzi in the spa.

Two guests describe a heated pool, a little on the small side. One recent guest, however, found it lukewarm, like the jacuzzi: opinions are mixed.

The pool. Large heated covered pool (Alti Mag), open from 9 am to 8 pm, in the Nuxe spa, with jacuzzi.

The hot tub. Jacuzzi in the spa.

Guests love the pool and spa after skiing, but find the jacuzzi small and the wait long at peak times. One family regrets that children only get one hour of access.

Guide's tip. With children, ask about the pool hours set aside for them.

How I check

The word "heated" on a booking page isn't enough. Every place must have a rating of at least 8/10 (or 4/5) and carries one of these four levels.

Confirmed by guests

Guests mention the heated water in their reviews, with the season when they say so.

Confirmed by a reviewer

A journalist or guide who stayed there describes the heated pool.

Advertised only

The hotel or the platform says so, but I haven't yet found a review that confirms it.

Indoor pool

Heating isn't specified, but the water is sheltered from the wind and cold air. Ask for the temperature before you book.

Places I left out

I left these out because guests report water colder than advertised, or because no heating or indoor pool is mentioned.
