Porto tumbles down in terraces to the mouth of the Douro, facing the port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia. The climate is wetter and cooler than in Lisbon, and an unheated pool only really comes into its own in high summer. Indoor spa pools and heated pools with river views let you swim in any season. I've selected 18 places, all rated at least 8/10; the top-rated is Mansion LA - Porto - heated pool (4.98/5).
