In the eastern Algarve, Tavira spreads along both banks of the Rio Gilão, with its churches, its rooftops and the Ria Formosa lagoon. The beaches are on sandy islands reached by boat, and the coast is flatter and calmer than in the west. The selection mixes villas with a heated pool in the nearby countryside and hotels with indoor pools, one of them in Cabanas. I've selected 7 places, all rated at least 8/10; the top-rated is Beautiful Villa / Heated Pool / Ocean View (4.98/5).
Each city has its own selection, with a page for each type of accommodation.
Places are ranked from highest to lowest rated. The yellow bubble shows the advertised water temperature, when it's known.
